I mentioned yesterday that I was hoping to update the Postcards from Paradise page (which I don’t think I’ve touched in two years), and I finally sat myself down and DID it! There is a revised explanation for why I love postcards, plus I took down all the old images and added SEVENTEEN new postcards to the page. Many of you new folks won’t have seen most of these works yet, so I’d click on over to Postcards from Paradise and see what’s cooking!

Meanwhile, I’ve also been reading some new books for the Read a Damn Book project. There are now 107 reviews of different books up on the list page. I love reading (I do it every day), but there’s something about REVIEWING a book that I really enjoy. You have to ENGAGE with the material, try to get a fix on what the author is trying to say and consider how what you’ve gleaned from the book relates to the world. I’ve been reading a LOT of comics lately (because I love reading comics), so I decided I’d better read a few non-illustrated texts, so I don’t get pigeonholed as that “comic book” guy. The PROBLEM is that I have four new comic collections that I’m DYING to read…but I’m making myself finish the other books before I crack into them… I fully believe that reading should be a fun and enjoyable experience, but I know there is also a lot of value to reading for information and knowledge. When we get really lucky, the books full of information and knowledge are ALSO really fun…but not always…
And don’t forget, if you ENJOY the Read a Damn Book project, I have an Amazon Wish List set up where folks can purchase books and donate them to the cause! I currently have 23 books on the list, and they run from about six bucks up to about twenty-five dollarinos. I like to read a pretty wide range of genres, and most of these genres are represented on this list: some comics, some weirdo paranormal books, some skeptical texts, some art stuff, etc… If you are feeling RICH and enjoy the book reviews that I write, feel free to visit the Wish List and send some literature my way! Any help would be appreciated, and if you choose to donate, my review of the book will be dedicated to YOU!!! (And you’ll be famous!!! sort of…)
Okay, I’m done bending your eyeballs. Until next time…
