As far as I have been able to discover through my extensive research, Wednesday STILL comes in the middle of the week…
Sorry. Little non-joke there. Anyway!
TOP STORY: Later this afternoon, I’ll be DJing a SOCK-HOP for kids at the Longview Public Library in Longview, WA, USA. Each year, the Longview Public holds a Summer Reading program, with prizes and incentives to help keep kids interested in reading during the hot and forgetful days of summer break. I COMPLETELY support this effort and instantly agreed to help out when I was asked if I would DJ. (As many of you OLD TIMERS will know, I usually DJ the Longview Public Library’s Halloween Monster Mash dance, as well.) Besides! I finally get a chance to play Tommy Roe, Bill Haley, and Fats Domino at a dance without getting yelled at!!!
In other news, the web service, StumbleUpon, is closing down! This might not mean a lot to some of you, but believe it or not, that site drives a lot of traffic my way! (I’m actually pretty bummed out…) The StumbleUponners-in-Chief are suggesting Mix.com as an alternative service (although I couldn’t quite tell if they were moving their operation OVER to Mix or if they were buying it or just endorsing the site…) I did sign up for a Mix.com profile, so if you want to visit I’m under: @richardfyates (Not particularly creative, but whatever…) I’m HOPING that this new site pans out, but at the moment it looks quite a bit like Pinterest to me, with “collections” based on certain topics and so on, although to be fair I haven’t really given the site a lot of time yet.
In a THIRD bit of juiciness, I have finally updated the BOOKS YOU CAN BUY page, including all the recent materials that we’ve released and updating the old entries. There are currently ELEVEN different Primitive Entertainment books available for human consumption, many of them with digital versions available for folks who don’t like solid objects! (Ha!) Anyway, I’d appreciate it if you could give the page a look at least, even if you ain’t got no dough right now. Maybe, someday, when you’re rich again you’ll remember that ONE book from the P.E.W. that sounded kinda interesting and come back and grab it! (Fingers crossed, right!?)
Welp…that’s about it for now! Gotta start rounding up DJ gear and get ready to make those little kids dance! Woooo!!! Talk at ya’ later!
