As many of you have undoubtedly noticed (ha! ha! I kid, I kid…) I’ve fallen behind in my writing duties for both the New Pulp Revival AND the new edit of Sharkey and the Jabberwock. However, there are GOOD REASONS (besides glacial laziness) for my shirked duties. Here are my excuses for being LAX:
FIRST! I spent almost the entirety of last weekend watching my younger daughter bowl in the Washington State USBC All-Star Extravaganza! She was part of the Cowlitz USBC Women’s team (her 2nd year as an ADULT all-star—she had many years as a junior all-star…,) and the Cowlitz Women, for the first time in the 42 years that this tournament has occurred, won! It was a solid, team effort, with each bowler contributing a stellar performance. Everyone got along, there was no drama, and they focused on winning—and subsequently DESTROYED the competition. (With two full games to go, they’d already taken enough points to secure the victory. It was pretty exciting stuff!)
NEXT! After the bowling event concluded on Sunday afternoon, we went to a dinner celebrating my older daughter’s 25th birthday and her husband’s 27th birthday. (They were born a day apart, the 30th and 31st of May…) It was fun, getting all the parents and grandparents and friends together… We don’t do that enough.
LAST! I also managed (between bowling and dining and chores around the house) to finish and submit my manuscript for the book, Primitive Conjurations – Lies for Art and Living, which is a truthful account of a fictional art collective that I wished I was a member of, who attempt to promote creativity and free expression while fending off corporate conspiracies, murderous androids, and a society that is almost completely indifferent to their efforts. The story is told through manifestos, diary entries, REAL fake news pieces, and fictional bits and drama, all attributed to various members of the collective. (If I may say so, it’s a THRILLING ADVENTURE, and steeped in mysterious, thought provoking rigmarole!) I still need to read through the proof, but as soon as I’m satisfied, Primitive Conjurations will go up for sale in both PAPER and DIGITAL formats! (Wooo!)
And that’s how I’ve spent the last few weeks… More excitement to come!
