“Mundane Objects” by Richard F. Yates
Rockets blast out of garages
as Billy goes to the market for milk.
The mundane wonders that daily surround us
have lost their luster
for their very familiarity.
It’s a miracle and a shame.
The cartoons have burst from their frames
and our wrist communicators are as tedious to us
as a hat on a head!
