“Little Monster Mash 2017” by Richard F. Yates (and Mariah Yates)

Yesterday was my third year volunteering as the DJ for the Longview Public Library’s annual Little Monster Mash Halloween Party. Seems like I do a lot of volunteering, but this event is always worthwhile. Mariah (the wife) and I love watching little kids GET DOWN, particularly toddler aged kids, who just love to dance—even if they don’t know how.

The evening started a bit slow, but even so, these kids were really boogying!

By about thirty minutes into the event, the house was PACKED!!! I asked Mariah if she could go up to the mezzanine and get a photo of the floor to try and capture some of the wackiness. Most of the little kids in this photo are in motion, and a fair few of the adults were, too!

After the costume contest, the room slowed down again, but as a consolation, Godzilla took control of the dancefloor and showed the little kids that were left had to do the STOMP!

Yeah, it was a fun event and worth the time and extra energy (even though we’ve been crazy busy lately, what with weddings and work and automotive troubles and general life goings-on.) They had face painting and balloon animals and some games and things downstairs, and my friend, Michael King, was selling shirts. Busy, crazy night! Thanks to Jen at the LPL for inviting me back, and thanks to Vincent (and Mariah!) for doing most of the heavy lifting on the equipment. (My back is a goner, after THIRTY YEARS of packing speakers and DJ gear. I played my first house party in 1988!!!) Looking forward to next year already!
