“Whetted” by Scott Sparks

To be unlike
Those swallowed by vice
Remaining further awake
Not so easily enticed
To set things right
Sleep for such sacrifice
Remaining further awake
Searching for required light
It may seem useless to fight
As if all your might won’t suffice
Much less get you through the night
I don’t know if less sleep will help against defeat
Remaining further awake to set things right
A bulb more bright would’ve figured this long ago
Sharper tools in the shed tried telling me so

—Scott Sparks
