“Navigate” by Scott Sparks

Hope means the most to the ones that know
What it’s like to live without its necessary glow
From heavily laden to the haphazardly brazen
All of us fight for flotation against our own undertow
Rest within may seem a sin from the outside lookin’ in
But how can you replenish what they try to take and diminish
If you aren’t prepared to start or finish your appointed vocation?
I have lived stabbed and shivved by such oppressive weight
The adversary exists to break all of which illuminates
What I must give has to be something more than they can take
Deeds done in the dark as a shark or serpent in the depths of grass lurkin’
When rest within seems a sin, the adversary bides and hides while smirkin’
Pay no attention to the clock needing not mentioned
The days are evil in the way they seize you
Let your light be the reason oppressive weights can no longer impede you
