“If My Brain Goes…” by Richard F. Yates

If my brain goes…
And I know it will be tough to tell…
If my brain goes before…
Honestly, I don’t even know what to tell you to watch out for
I already love nonsense and non-sequiturs
(Dinosaurs in pajamas at my piano)
And absurdist juxtapositions
And nonsense, too
(My memory is pretty bad already…)
If my brain goes before my…
Maybe if I start acting TOO confident
That would be a bad sign
If my brain goes before my body…
Which isn’t too likely when you consider my body
(I’d advise against it)
If my brain goes before my body, just try to ride it out
And take lots of photos!
