“Umbrella” by Scott Sparks

When it rains, I abhor
It ain’t like it’s a new day
Same as before
Repetition is the mother of recognition
Smeared lipstick
My declination of kisses sent second-hand
When it rains, I’m out the door
I’ve seen this movie way back when
Same as before
Unnecessary sequels pieced and glued
Breaking news
Certain cycles from certain someones tried untrue
It rains
And it does so in vain
I’ve gotta tell ya my umbrella’s in need of a decent drain
Worst case scenario in progress
Let me dry off as I make my way out of this
Same as before

—Scott Sparks
